Your hosts, Sandy and James Down have lived in the heart of the Niagara Peninsula for the past forty years. They retired 10 years ago to Historic Old Town Niagara on-the-Lake to operate DownHome Bed and Breakfast together.
Sandy has worked as a Property Manager, Program Director and Arts/Crafts Director. Being an ardent cross stitcher her works are prominently displaced throughout DownHome Bed and Breakfast.
James, a retired Power Generation project manager, has traveled extensively throughout North America, Europe, Eastern Europe, India and the Far East. An amateur winemaker for the past thirty-five years, he has won some awards for his wines along the way.
They both have extensive knowledge of the history of the area and can help guests with wine tours and the food experience in Niagara on the Lake.
Together Sandy and James have traveled to England, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Russia and extensively throughout North America. They would enjoy sharing their adventures and hear about the places and events that you have seen.
Both Sandy and James enjoy golf in summer and can recommend courses in the area including playing on the oldest golf course in North America. They enjoy skiing in the winter. Both love to discuss the local wineries and the history of Niagara on the Lake including the War of 1812 .
Sandy and James welcome you to DownHome and will endeavour to make your stay both a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
